I am a PGCE FE qualified teacher who left the 'class room teaching' profession in July 05 to set up an education facility on my own farm. This year I hope to purchase a mobile classroom in which to base my outreach education work.

During my full time employment within FE I worked for 3 years within both mainstream, pre-entry and entry level curriculum programs also gaining considerable experience with PMLD students.

Since leaving full time classroom teaching, I have continued to work on a part time basis as a supply teacher with local primary and secondary schools, helping to keep myself informed and up to date with current teaching practices and methodology.

I wish to complete my equine studies examinations during the next 18 months and then combine all of this to create a unique teaching and learning environment.

I am a passionate advocate of experiential learning and the exploration of different routes through the educational system, particularly for those who feel disenfranchised.

I have registered my interest in the DfES ‘education outside the classroom manifesto’ and welcome its emphasis and beliefs, as stated below in the draft documentation:

“We believe every child and young person should experience the world outside the classroom as an integral part of their learning and development, complementing learning in the classroom. High quality education outside the classroom can stimulate and inspire; foster independence; aid personal and social development; and can often motivate reluctant learners. These experiences should be stimulating, safely managed and enjoyable, and contribute to meeting the needs of every child.”

This is the kind of education my skills, inclinations and beliefs have led me to practice.
